An expanded series of square hole bushings, designated as Series A 7C18, are designed to fit any three-jaw chuck or mating-size collet to hold square stock in lathes, drills and other machine tools. Available from Stock Drive Products, the bushings have slotted sides that permit them to be compressed while holding square stock rods. This provides good concentricity without time-consuming adjustments and cost a fraction of the price of square collets. In addition, the bushings, which have a circular outer surface, can be pressed into the holes of gears, pulleys and other drive components so that these components may slide over square-stock shafts. This results in an inexpensive and efficient way to retain and transfer high transmission torques from shafts to drive components, as well as permitting shifting between mating members axially, even during rotation. The square hole bushings can handle stock, ranging from 3/16 in. to 1-1/4 in. square. Outer diameters span from .375 in. to 2.000 in. and lengths from 3/4 in. to 2 in. Material is 4140 carbon steel with a hardness of SDP 27 |
